The NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway had something for everyone –  racing in multiple lanes, not your usual suspects in the top 10, and a continuation of the tire issues that seem to plague the series.

Kyle Larson kicked off the weekend by winning his third pole in a row. He went on to dominate and win the opening stage. Then, when he was well on his way to repeating in Stage 2, his right rear wheel came off on Lap 116. Extended time in the pits put him down two laps allowing Ross Chastain to win the second stage.

Stage 3 saw three-wide racing, pit road chaos, and late-race cautions which led to three Overtimes. Ultimately, Chase Elliott came out the winner.

JJ Saves It

On Lap 50, “ol seven time” went for a trip through the infield grass, but he was able to save his car and continue racing.

Larson Doing Larson Things

On Lap 116, Larson’s tire off and the stop put him down two laps. However, thanks to cautions, a fast car, and pit strategy, he was able to work his way back to the lead lap. Unfortunately, a late wreck bumped him to a P21 finish.

Burton to the Lead

For a short amount of time, Harrison Burton snagged the lead, bringing much joy to fans of the famed Wood Bros. Racing team. This lead change came when Bubba Wallace and Chase Briscoe wrecked on Lap 173.

Bell’s Team Rings It In

After an early spin, Christopher Bell’s team went to work, fixing the damage, allowing it to maintain its competitive edge.

Mike Joy’s Lesson
