AdventHealth 400

After a multi-hour delay for rain, the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway finally got underway. And with the green flag came three-wide battles throughout the field and a track that made for some great racing. Once the field stretched out, it was encouraging to still see battles all over the track.

The highlight of Stage 1 was the battle for the lead between Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain. With 15 to go, Denny Hamlin made it a three-way fight, ultimately claiming the stage win.

On Lap 125, Chris Buescher claimed the lead and held on to win the second stage. Oddly enough, both stages went green.

That all changed on Lap 177 when Jimmie Johnson got into the wall, taking Corey LaJoie and Austin Hill with him. The next caution came on Lap 185 when Hamlin washed up the track and collected Austin Cindric, Bubba Wallace, and Michael McDowell.

Immediately, Harrison Burton went for a spin and brought out another caution. As soon as they got running again, the caution was back out as Joey Logano had a flat and went for a spin.

After that, the race went green until seven laps remained. At that time, Kyle Busch went for a spin in Turn 2. This sent the AdventHealth 400 into NASCAR Overtime.

Hamlin and Buescher led the field to green for the two-lap shootout with Buescher pulling ahead. Larson worked hard to claim the lead and did so right as the checkered flag waved, culminating in a historic photo finish.

Rich MARvelous Move of the Race

The finish was certainly worth talking about, but the Rich MARvelous Move came early on in Stage 2. It is summed up in two words: Five. Wide.

The Rich MARvelous Move of the Race is voted on by Pit Pass Network staff members following the checkered flag.

One PPN staff member summed it up well:

5 avoiding the 1
54 avoiding the 20
17 avoiding both

Can confirm. That’s exactly what happened.

Now, let’s watch from the No. 17’s in-car camera.

And if you were watching from pit road, you’d see this:

Pretty impressive if you ask us! What was your vote for Rich MARvelous Move of the Race?
