Cook Out 400

After winning the pole, Denny Hamlin led the field to green for the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. With three to go in the opening stage, the caution waved as Cody Ware spun after contact with John Hunter Nemechek. Hamlin dominated the stage, putting nearly two seconds on the field for the stage win before the caution.

Hamlin was again out front for the start of the second stage. However, only a few laps later, Noah Gragson brought out the caution. The remainder of the stage was a copy of the first, with the win going to Hamlin.

The final stage started with Hamlin once again in P1. However, green flag pit stops shook things up a little, putting the No. 11 back in the field.

With 92 to go, Hamlin worked back to the lead. But, three laps later, the caution waved for debris on the track.

Following the yellow, Ross Chastain snuck in front of Hamlin. But before he could solidify the lead, the caution waved for a wreck on the front stretch.

Following this, Chase Elliott and Chastain battled for the lead, with Elliott ultimately securing it.

Despite Hamlin dominating the day, Elliott claimed the Cook Out 400 win – the first for Hendrick Motorsports in the 2026 season.

Rich MARvelous Move of the Race

Chase Elliott not only scored the win, but the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race.

From the time he took the lead on Lap 332, Elliott expertly navigated lapped traffic.

While Hamlin was reporting issues with his car, he attempted to close the gap. However, Elliott conducted a Martinsville Masterclass.

Between the car’s aerodynamics and this maneuvering, Hamlin was unable to regain the lead.
