For the third time this season, Tyler Reddick won the opportunity to start on the front row. By Lap 6, Denny Hamlin had secured the lead and distanced himself from the field. Ultimately, he went on to claim the stage win.

Kyle Larson took the lead from Hamlin at the start of the second segment. Then, following green-flag stops, he put over three seconds on the field and won the stage.

While Hamlin led the start of the final stage, Christopher Bell was right there to take it from him. Following pit stops, Hamlin reclaimed the lead.

All was quiet until drivers took 11 to go.

At that point, Reddick caught Hamlin, snuck around him, and set sail with the lead.

Three laps later, Hamlin attempted to reclaim the lead but was unable to execute. With five to go, Hamlin tried again to no avail.

Two laps later, Hamlin was in Reddick’s wake when Reddick got into the wall and yelled, “Out of fuel! Out of fuel!” As Hamlin slipped around Reddick, the first caution for an incident waved – Cody Ware had spun in Turn 4.

This set up NASCAR Overtime.

Under caution, both Reddick and Hamlin came to pit road and lined up out front for the final restart.

Larson worked his way to the front of the pack. Reddick followed him through and jumped to the lead in the final turns for the AdventHealth 400 win.

Rich MARvelous Move of the Race

Following the checkered flag, a quick chat between Pit Pass Network team members had us agreeing that Todd Gilliland once again impressed.

Each week, the Pit Pass Network team votes for the Rich MARvelous Move of the Race following the NASCAR Cup Series checkered flag.

At the close of the opening stage, Gilliland found himself in the Lucky Dog spot. As Denny Hamlin expertly navigated lapped traffic, Gilliland kept up with the No. 11, staying on his bumper, mimicking Hamlin’s moves.

Coming to the stripe, Hamlin allowed Gilliland back onto the lead lap – a huge break for the No. 34 team, which has endured a rough start to the season.

Now, with back-to-back lead-lap finishes, including a top-10 run at Bristol, the team heads to Talladega with some much-needed momentum, where they could easily play spoiler.
